Completing the line between main production and the Performance Center, the Smith & Wesson PERFORMANCE CENTER® SW1911 PRO SERIES represents the next step from standard models. These firearms are offered with a variety of enhancements yet still remain true to “stock.” Bringing competition specifications and features to factory models, the Pro Series offer that ready-to-go package while still maintaining production line integrity.

True to traditional form for Officer-size M1911s, the SW1911 Pro Series is a single-stack semi-automatic, with a grip angle and ergonomics familiar to any M1911 devotee. However, to reduce weight—an important consideration for everyday carry—the frame is constructed from a scandium alloy instead of the more traditional steel, bringing the gun’s empty weight down to only 26 ozs. Further, it features a rounded butt to reduce the chance of snagging on clothing when carrying concealed. To promote a firm grip, both the frontstrap and the mainspring housing are checkered (the mainspring housing being the more aggressive of the two), while the factory stocks are coarsely stippled synthetics.

When you consider its features, S&W’s Pro Series fits in the custom-production category between the firm’s standard-production models and the custom-built Performance Center firearms. Essentially, SW1911s are stock guns equipped with certain upgrades as standard equipment.
